Mary Free, also known as Marica Salfi, is back with her latest release, “Ignite the Night,” a track born from personal challenges and fueled by her signature blend of melodic and dance sounds. As a seasoned DJ and Tech/House/Progressive House producer, Mary has continually reinvented her sound throughout her career, and this new single is no exception.

Originally from Italy, Mary Free took her first steps into the world of Electro, Minimal, and House music at 19, establishing herself in Milan’s elite club scene. As a resident DJ at Tocqueville, she built a reputation for lighting up VIP parties and House nights with her electrifying beats.

However, her passion for music led her back to Sicily in 2010, where she became a key player in Catania’s thriving club culture. Managing a local club and performing at festivals like MayDay Spring Fest, she quickly earned recognition for her energetic sets.

By 2016, Mary’s career took a leap forward after winning a local DJ competition. She teamed up with Italo House DJ Sanny J, resulting in the release of her first singles, “Big Up” and “Tek MIND.” These tracks gained traction across national radio stations, further solidifying her place in the industry. Over the next few years, Mary Free explored different musical avenues, including Rap and Reggaeton, earning her national television exposure.

In 2018, she relocated to Birmingham, continuing to produce new music while touring with her signature sound. One of her standout releases from this period was “Keep Me,” a collaboration with Milanese singer-songwriter Simonluca. Throughout the next few years, Mary expanded her production portfolio, including tribal and house-infused tracks like “El Granjero” and “Green Power.”

Even the pandemic couldn’t slow her down. In 2020, she embraced live streaming and began performing for her growing audience on social media. By 2021, she launched a collaboration with Ibiza Stardust Radio, showcasing her ever-evolving style to a global audience.

Mary’s journey hasn’t always been easy, and that’s where “Ignite the Night” stands out. Produced during one of the darkest periods of her life, this track is a testament to her resilience. “Ignite the Night has a very important meaning for me,” Mary says. “What I wanted to convey is positivity and energy… incorporating melodic and dance sounds.” The track is a blend of her signature progressive beats with uplifting melodies that drive listeners to dance and let go.

Currently based in the UK, Mary continues to grow her influence in the electronic music scene. As the main organiser of Muse Events and a resident DJ at SUKi10C, she has played across renowned venues like Recreo Bar in Barcelona and Jazzbarmenorca.
