Artist Profile

Biography

Hendrik Joerges’ profile continues to rise with support for his releases and production work gaining plaudits, supporters and streams in an ever growing manner. The single “Enemy” on Italian label Kumo Collective has streamed over 100,000 times across all services, with Alison Wonderland supporting and Heart FM in South Africa playlisting; it followed up Stressed which has now almost 500,000 on Spotify alone, and nearly a million across all DSPs.

Hendrik’s production was recently been heard on Gabi Du Plessis’ “Not Looking For Love”, a Top 10 Heart FM national hit, and he co-wrote and produced five of Armand Joubert (The Voice SA)’s album ‘You’re Too Theatrical’, bringing the total to over 10 nationally supported productions in South Africa. He was commissioned to write the full station branding for East Coast Radio (ECR), which has over 2 million listeners; this collaboration follows Hendrik’s work with the “Opera Singing Cab Driver” Menzi Mngoma (soon to be seen on America’s Got Talent) for ECR.

Lined up for future releases are collaborations with Awoltalk, Tarro, Sofasound, Dabow, Sem, Subtact, Jaydon Lewis, Max Hurrell, Duke & Jones and Jupe. Aside from production, Hendrik Joerges has also transitioned to a live act in his own right, moving from behind the decks to front of stage. He has performed alongside Styles MC, opening for some of SA’s biggest Hip Hop acts such as Nasty C, AKA, Frank Casino and A-Reece.

Hendrik can still be heard DJing at festivals, clubs and gigs across South Africa including Rage Durban, Plett Rage, Bloemfontein, Franschhoek and Hermanus; sets at Party in the Park, Splashy Fen, Biosphere and Amnesia Festivals. Previous releases Til The Sun Comes Up, Big Fun (with New Young Pony Club’s lead singer Ty Bulmer), and his ultra successful collaborations with Locnville have led to Hendrik being an Artist of the Month for The Times newspaper and a featured artist in GQ Magazine.

“My biggest inspirations currently are Ramzoid, for pushing the boundaries with music and bringing a new and futuristic view on the now repetitive, not-so-future ‘Future Bass’ genre, Flume for Flume for being one of the biggest pioneers in electronic music in the last seven years, Laxcity for being a great all round guy and for writing emotional Pop and Electronic hits, and Rome In Silver who has been a huge inspiration recently.”
