Biography

Out of the handful mainstream house music producers emerging from India, Anuraag Chadha a.k.a Madoc is surely among the frontrunners in becoming one of the pioneers of ‘South Asia’s House Music Scene’. More of a dreamer & sometimes an extreme realist, Anuraag has travelled far & wide in search of his sound. Madoc the alias, inspired from ‘Maddox’ in London was born in 2012 when he made the switch from Underground House Music to his Mainroom Sound.

In 2006, after schooling with the legendary DJ professor Jo Azaredo, one of India’s earliest and finest DJs, he polished his skills the old school way: apprenticing under DJs at clubs across the city of Mumbai. In 2008, Anuraag got his first release “Techop” as a producer with Balkan Connection on their Balkanians Volume 2 compilation which included renowned artists like Ogi Gee Cash, Smokin Circles, Cid Inc. In early 2009 he took up a residency at Wink, Taj President, Mumbai & also started with his Sound Engineering at Digital Academy, Mumbai (accredited by University of Westminster, UK), headed by Mr. Daman Sood, India’s leading sound and recording engineer.

After completing his sound engineering course & 18 months at Wink, He moved to London in September 2010 to study Electronic Music Production at Point Blank School of Music. He collaborated with his friend and classmate Alex Cramp and became a part of “On the Rocks” Record Label. Their first release together was their remix of Paul Baker’s “Say Again” followed by his solo releases: “Louderr”, “Falling”, “Why.”

His first release as Madoc was the remix of 4 time Grammy Nominee DJ SKIP and Shalamar’s “Don’t Go” on S & S Records, Chicago, which he co-produced with Jez Pereira (London) and Alex Cramp (London).This remix got him a chance to officially remix one of the biggest names in the music industry “Kanye West”. He went on to Remix Grammy Nominee Syleena Johnson’s Peace Pipe which charted 57 on the Traxsource – Progressive Top 100 Fast Edie feat. Robbie Rivera – I Believe (Jez Pereira & Madoc Remix) and charted on #27 on the Traxsource Electro House Chart.

2015: 3 EPs signed to Bang It Records (House Session Records), Germany.

2015: 7th August: Loading/ Fight Club EP release on Beatport.

2015: 4th September: Twister release on Beatport.

2015: 7th October: Flip Out/ Eros release on Beatport.

The Loading/Fight Club EP did extremely well on Beatport and went on to become Number 2 on the Electro House Release Chart, 5 in the Progressive House Release Chart and 12 in the Overall Beatport Release Chart overtaking Releases and compilations by some of the biggest names in the Electronic Music Industry including Hardwell, Calvin Harris, Dannic and many more.

After getting support from some of the biggest names globally, The CIRQUE EP went on to chart on #5 on the Beatport Electro Releases and #62 on Overall Beatport Releases. In September 2015, Madoc got the dream opportunity to perform for the “Revealed Recordings” (Hardwell’s Label) Showcase, A VH1 Supersonic Event – At Mehboob Studio, Mumbai. In December 2015, he made his VH1 Supersonic debut.

Madoc just completed 3 years as the Resident DJ (2013 – 2016) at the St. Regis Hotel (Palladium Hotel), Mumbai where he handled their 2 penthouse properties on the 37th Floor – EXO and LiBai. He now holds monthly residencies at various clubs and bars all over the country. Sirkus, OPA, 1Above, The House Of Medici, OTM, Playboy, Drinking Kulture – To name a few. In 2016 December, he made his SUNBURN and EVC Festival Debut. With a number of releases coming out soon, Madoc continues to learn and work and improve, trying to make his mark in the world of Electronic Dance Music.
