Breaking News: Tomorrowland 2021 Is Officially Canceled

Despite a fierce fight, the organizers of Tomorrowland festival had to bow to Belgian government decisions and cancel the worlwide event.

The announcement fell this Wednesday evening. The edition 2021 of Tomorrowland in Belgium, one of the biggest electronic music events in the world, will not take place this summer, contrary to what was considered in May by the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo.

“It is with heavy heart that our organization must announce that the 16th edition of Tomorrowland Belgium cannot take place in 2021. The entire team fought till the end and did everything in its powers to write a new chapter in the history of Tomorrowland. Our dream was to welcome the People of Tomorrow, who we’ve been missing for too long, to celebrate life to the fullest. But unfortunately, the local government has not given the permit to organize Tomorrowland. We keep looking positively towards the future and strongly believe that music will unite us again soon. Ticketholders for Tomorrowland Belgium will be contacted personally. Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever.” Announce the organizers of the event.

This is the second year in a row that the festival has been canceled.

Usually organized at the end of July, this festival which has already attracted up to 400,000 people, had postponed its 2021 edition to the end of August early September, over two weekends, to adapt to the official calendar for further easing of measures over the summer.

But the two Belgian towns that usually host Tomorrowland have chosen not to allow it, “citing concern about rising cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 and the complexity of logistics to ensure health and safety checks for the crowd of 400,000.” An unexpected decision, as the program was announced and the ticketing sold-out.

If it is any consolation, you might like to hear that Around The World, Tomorrowland’s virtual counterpart, will air for the second year.

When ? 2021, July 16th & 17th

Planned ? Armin van Buuren, Lost Frequencies, Afrojack, Alan Walker, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Kölsch, Tale Of Us… more than 40 artists gathered during this weekend. And a lot of surprises…

For a little preview, here is the official aftermovie of Tomorrowland Around the World 1st Edition 2020.
